Flu Vaccination

Bringing more to your health

Flu Vaccination

Each year we run a free flu program before winter with the aim to protect people against the flu virus. This benefit is offered once in the year and is organized through the HR department.

Anyone can get the flu

Influenza vaccination has been well documented as one of the greatest public health initiatives of the 21st century, with dramatic reductions in serious flu and flu-related complications, including chronic illness and death.

Common myths about the Flu Vaccine

I will get the flu from the vaccine

This is a common misconception. The flu vaccine does not contain a live virus, so there is no possibility of it giving you influenza.

I was already vaccinated last year

Flu vaccinations are developed to protect you against the most common strains of flu for up to 12 months. To be protected against the current flu strains you should be vaccinated every year.

Flu vaccination doesn't work

Flu vaccines are 70%-90% effective. They are the best protection from the influenza virus and will minimise the spread of the flu to your family, friends and colleagues.

I had a flu vaccination then caught a cold

The immunization is for the flu only; it will not prevent you from getting the common cold or other 'flu like' symptoms.

The flu vaccine starts working immediately

No. The vaccine takes 2-3 weeks to begin forming flu-fighting anti-bodies in your system. There are no disadvantages in getting the vaccination earlier in the year as long as you are vaccinated annually.
