Ausdrill Ltd’s Exploration division was formed in 1989 with the purchase of B.P. Minerals Exploration assets and currently provides:
Our qualified drill crews are backed by experienced supervisors, management and maintenance staff, providing clients with a quality service at competitive rates. Many of the crew members are long term Ausdrill employees and some have been in the drilling business for over 25 years. Our Exploration fleet includes Schramm T 685 W rigs, acquired in late 1997 and early 1998, built to our own specifications with on-board 1000cfm/500psi compressors. These units have proven to be capable, competitive and reliable, while setting new standards in efficiency and noise reduction. All of our heavy duty rotary/percussion rigs are now fitted with mechanised rod loaders, and this trend will continue. Following the purchase of the WMC exploration drilling division at Kambalda in 1996, we continued as the contractor, providing exploration drilling, causeway construction and site rehabilitation to the WMC nickel and gold business entities based at Kambalda. Ausdrill Kambalda has its own workshop and store to support field activities. Capabilities include causeway construction, site rehabilitation and exploration drilling, ranging from shallow RAB/Air Core holes to deep RC and diamond drilled holes, as well as drilling on salt lakes. Complementing the fleet has been the purchase of 8 KWL 1600 diamond drill rigs and 25 new M.A.N. and mercedes trucks. Today we are still the contractor of choice for Gold Fields at Kambalda and Agnew as well as B.H.P. Billiton at Mt Keith and Leinster. Our major Exploration clients in the last five years have included:
