Ausdrill Ltd’s Drill & Blast division provides:

Production drilling and blasting for surface mining operations
Construction drilling and blasting
Probe drilling for voids and underground workings
In-pit reverse circulation grade control drilling and sampling

Our fleet of modern top hammer and down hole hammer drills provide a quality drill and blast service on any scale. Our long involvement with blast hole drilling led to the development of purpose built ‘longreach’ drills, which are currently operated at the Fimiston Superpit and St Ives Leviathan open pit located in the Goldfields of Western Australia.

In addition to the ability to sample blast holes, we have a fleet of track-mounted Schramm RC Grade Control drills with an on-board capacity of up to 96m. The RC drills provide a high quality sample with increased levels of efficiency.

We also provides blasting services for open pit mining. We have vast experience in the application of controlled blasting techniques to limit noise, vibration and dust and have conducted the following controlled blasting activities:

Blasting on the FMG railway line in close proximity to other mine infrastructure and numerous culturally sensitive sites.
Minimising dust at the Marvel Loch Operations in Western Australia to prevent the incidence of airborne fibrous particles.
Blasting in close proximity to the Coolgardie town site in Western Australia, with blasting noise not exceeding the prescribed limit of 115DbA (linear) in three years of blasting almost every day.
Blasting in close proximity to an 11kV high voltage power line servicing the Saint Ives Mill at Kambalda in Western Australia to vibration limits of 5mm/sec.
Blasting in close proximity to a major gas pipeline and culturally sensitive sites at the Union Reefs Project in the Northern Territory.
